For maintenance of SSD, The most important: The “good habits” of Mechanical drive isn’t suitable for SSD.
1,Don’t use defragmentation
Defragmentation is a good way to deal with the slower mechanical drive.but for SSD, It is completely “torture” The wipe of SSD is limited, Defragmentation can greatly reduce the life of SSD.In Fact, The garbage collection mechanism of SSD is a good “Defragmentation”,So more Defragmentation is completely unnecessary.the “defragmentation” function is just for mechanical drive,not suitable for SSD. In addition, For SSD,Please disable the function of Superfetch and Windows Search in Windows 7. These two functions are unimportant for SSD, So disable them can reduce the frequency of reading and writting.

2, Less Partition
“Less Partition” Relationship to “4K Alignment” impact on solid state drives. More Partitions can waste more space, on the other hand, it is easy to cause for more partitions, in the area of the disk partition boundary performance may be affected. The easiest to maintain method of “4k Alignment ” is to use the Windows 7 partitioning tool to partition, So be sure tt is is 4k Alignment.

3, Keep Enough Left Space
More storage ,SSD will be more slow,If in a partition the use storage more than 90% for long time, Maybe SSD will crashes .So clear the useless files in time, It is very important to set the appropriate virtual memory size,Move the big films, musics to other partition, To be sure the partition keep enough left space.

4,Refresh Firmware On Time
The Firmware is like the BIOS on the mainboard, control the internal operations, not only affect the performance, stability of solid-state drives, can also affect the life. Excellent firmware contains advanced algorithm can reduce the unnecessary writing to SSD, thereby reducing the wear of flash memory chips, maintain performance but also prolong the SSD life.
