Frequently Asked Questions
Which headphones does the MUC-M12SB2 fit?
Sony lists it for the Sony IER-Z1R, IER-M9, IER-M7, XBA-Z5, XBA-H3, XBA-H2, XBA-A3, XBA-A2, XBA-N3, XBA-N3AP, XBA-N3BP, XBA-N1, XBA-N1AP, XBA-300, XBA-300AP and the XJE-MH series.
What do I need to use a 4.4 mm balanced cable?
A player or amplifier with a 4.4 mm balanced output, such as Sony Walkman NW-WM1 and NW-ZX series models or a desktop amp with a Pentaconn 4.4 mm socket. It will not plug into a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.
What is the benefit of balanced connection?
A balanced connection drives the left and right channels separately, which can improve channel separation and give a cleaner, more spacious sound with compatible sources.
What is the difference between MUC-M12SB2 and MUC-M12SB1?
The MUC-M12SB2 is Sony’s running-change successor to the MUC-M12SB1. Sony keeps the same specifications and features; only the model suffix changed.
Is the MUC-M12SB2 an MMCX cable?
No. It uses Sony’s own earpiece connectors for IER and XBA models. Cables sold as an MMCX version of the MUC-M12SB2 are not the genuine Sony product.
Is it genuine Sony?
Yes. It is Sony’s official MUC-M12SB2 headphone cable, brand new in sealed Sony retail packaging, dispatched from our UK warehouse.
