The Lexar Professional SILVER PLUS 256GB microSDXC card reads at up to 205MB/s and writes at up to 150MB/s, so games load quickly and 4K video records without dropped frames. A2-rated for apps and V30 for 4K, it is built for Steam Deck, ROG Ally, drones and action cameras that chew through 4K footage and large game installs.
- ✓ Up to 205MB/s read and 150MB/s write — fast offloads and quick game loading
- ✓ A2 app performance and V30 / U3 rating for smooth 4K UHD recording
- ✓ Waterproof, shockproof, temperature-proof and X-ray proof construction
- ✓ Works with Steam Deck, ROG Ally, original Switch / OLED, drones, action cams and Android phones — SD adapter included
The Lexar Silver Plus 256GB micro SD card sits in Lexar’s Professional range, one step above everyday cards, and it shows in the numbers: up to 205MB/s read and up to 150MB/s write. For a handheld gaming PC or console that means shorter load screens; for a drone or action camera it means 4K UHD footage written to the card without stutter, then copied to your laptop in a fraction of the time a standard 100MB/s card takes.
The 256GB microSDXC card carries every rating modern devices check for — Class 10, UHS Speed Class 3, Video Speed Class V30 and A2 application performance — so it can run apps and games directly from the card on Android and handheld PCs, not just store files. It ships with a full-size SD adapter for cameras and laptops, and the card itself is waterproof, shockproof, temperature-proof (-25°C to 85°C) and X-ray proof for travel and outdoor use.
Speed
Up to 205MB/s Read, 150MB/s Write
Standard UHS-I cards top out around 100MB/s read. The SILVER PLUS pushes beyond that when paired with a compatible high-speed reader, reaching up to 205MB/s — roughly twice as fast to offload a day of drone or action-cam footage. Write speed of up to 150MB/s matters just as much while you shoot: it keeps the camera’s buffer clear so 4K clips and burst photos save without interruption. In a regular UHS-I slot (phones, consoles, most cameras) the card still runs at the full speed that slot allows, so you never lose anything by choosing the faster card.
Gaming & Apps
A2 Rated for Handhelds
The A2 application performance class guarantees fast random read and write operations — the small, scattered file access that games and apps rely on, which sequential speed figures do not capture. That makes the SILVER PLUS a strong fit for Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go and the original Nintendo Switch or Switch OLED, where load times depend on random reads. On Android phones that support adoptable storage, A2 lets apps run from the card with far less lag than an older A1 or unrated card. Note that the Nintendo Switch 2 only accepts microSD Express cards, so this UHS-I card is not compatible with Switch 2.
Durability
Built for Outdoor Use
Lexar tests the SILVER PLUS to survive what drones, helmet cams and travel bags throw at it: it is waterproof, shockproof, vibration-resistant, temperature-proof from -25°C to 85°C, X-ray proof for airport scanners and magnet proof. Lexar also includes access to its data recovery software, so accidentally deleted photos and videos can usually be restored. Combined with V30 sustained write performance, that makes it a dependable card for long outdoor shoots where swapping or losing a card is not an option.

Consider something else if…
✖ You own a Nintendo Switch 2 — it needs a microSD Express card
✖ It is for a dashcam or CCTV recording 24/7 — choose SanDisk High Endurance 256GB
✖ You shoot high-bitrate pro video and want the top tier — see SanDisk Extreme PRO 256GB
✖ You only need basic storage for photos and music — SanDisk Ultra 256GB costs less

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Lexar Silver Plus work in a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck?
Yes for the original Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED, Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Legion Go — all use UHS-I microSD slots. It is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, which only accepts microSD Express cards.
Why does my computer not show 205MB/s?
The 205MB/s read speed needs a compatible high-speed reader that supports Lexar’s faster transfer mode, such as the Lexar Professional dual-slot reader. A standard UHS-I reader or laptop slot will run the card at around 100MB/s, which is the normal UHS-I limit.
What do the A2, V30 and U3 ratings mean?
U3 and V30 guarantee a minimum sustained write speed of 30MB/s, which is what 4K UHD video recording requires. A2 is an app performance class that guarantees fast random reads and writes, so apps and games run smoothly directly from the card.
Is the 256GB card good for 4K drone and GoPro footage?
Yes. The V30 rating covers 4K UHD recording on DJI drones, GoPro and other action cameras, and the up to 150MB/s write speed gives plenty of headroom above the 30MB/s these devices need for continuous recording.
What file system is the card formatted in?
As a microSDXC card it comes formatted in exFAT, which phones, consoles, cameras, Windows and macOS read natively. For best results, format the card in the device you will use it in before the first recording or game install.
