The MacBook Pro 16-inch is Apple’s most power-hungry portable. Under heavy load — video rendering, compilation, sustained GPU work — it can draw close to 140W. The Apple 140W USB-C Power Adapter is the only single-port USB-C adapter that keeps pace with that demand. At 140W it delivers Apple’s maximum fast charging rate for the 16-inch: 0 to 50% in approximately 30 minutes when the machine is idle or lightly loaded. Lower-wattage adapters will charge a MacBook Pro 16″ during light use, but under sustained load the battery drains even while plugged in — 140W prevents this. The same adapter handles every other USB-C Apple device without compromise: MacBook Pro 14″ and MacBook Air charge faster from 140W than from their bundled adapters. iPad Pro, iPhone and AirPods all draw what they need. A cable is required and sold separately — use a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable for MacBook Pro, or a USB-C Charge Cable for USB-C port charging.
140W — Full Power
MacBook Pro 16″ at Maximum Rate
The MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021 and later) supports fast charging at up to 140W — the only Apple adapter that meets this specification is this one. Under sustained heavy workloads the MacBook Pro 16″ can approach its maximum draw; a 96W adapter will charge the battery when the machine is idle but will fail to keep pace during intensive use, resulting in gradual battery drain even while plugged in. At 140W the adapter supplies more than the machine needs under all conditions, ensuring the battery tops up rather than drains regardless of workload. Apple recommends pairing with the USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable for optimal charging on the 16-inch.
Universal Compatibility
Every USB-C Apple Device — One Adapter
MacBook Pro 14-inch charges faster from 140W than from its bundled 96W adapter. MacBook Air (M1, M2, M3) draws what it needs — 140W does not harm lower-draw devices. iPad Pro charges at its full rate. iPhone 15, 16 and 17 fast charge at up to 27W from the same adapter. For households or offices where multiple Apple devices share one desk charger, the 140W adapter covers every device without swapping. It also charges any USB-C device outside the Apple ecosystem — Windows laptops, Android phones, USB-C accessories — making it a practical single-adapter solution for mixed-device setups.
Design
Compact Body · Folding UK Plug
At 140W the adapter is larger and heavier than Apple’s lower-wattage chargers — approximately 360g — but remains considerably more compact than traditional laptop power bricks of equivalent wattage. The built-in folding UK three-pin plug keeps the body self-contained for travel without a separate plug adapter. The single USB-C port means one cable connection, one plug socket, no power strip required for basic desk charging. White finish is consistent with Apple’s accessory range.
Great choice if you…
✔ Own a MacBook Pro 16″ (2021+) and want full fast charging
✔ Run heavy workloads on MacBook Pro 16″ while plugged in
✔ Want one adapter that covers MacBook, iPad and iPhone
✔ Need a genuine Apple replacement charger for MacBook Pro 16″
✔ Travel and need maximum charging power in a compact form
Consider something else if…
✖ You own MacBook Pro 14″ — the 96W adapter is the right match
✖ You only charge iPhone or iPad — the 20W adapter is more practical
✖ You need multiple USB-C ports — this has one port only
Cable not included. A charging cable is required and sold separately. For MacBook Pro with MagSafe 3 port use a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable. For USB-C port charging use a USB-C Charge Cable.
