The Huawei CP61 SuperCharge Wireless Charger was Huawei’s flagship wireless charging pad at launch — the first consumer wireless charger to deliver a verified 27W to the phone, a figure that exceeded the 18W USB Power Delivery maximum that most wired chargers of the time provided. For Huawei Mate 30 Pro and P30 Pro users, the CP61 charges wirelessly at a speed that is genuinely faster than most competing wired fast chargers, not just faster than standard 5W wireless. For all other Qi-enabled devices — Samsung Galaxy, iPhone, earbuds and other accessories — the CP61 operates as a universal wireless charger at 15W, 10W, 7.5W or 5W depending on the device’s capability. The built-in centrifugal fan draws air through the fabric cover to manage the heat generated during high-power wireless charging, a feature that most wireless chargers omit and which allows the CP61 to sustain 27W continuously without thermal throttling. Night mode automatically reduces fan noise when the pad detects low ambient light, switching to quieter operation for bedroom use. Foreign object detection stops charging and issues a warning if a metal object such as a coin or key is placed on the pad. TÜV and Qi certified.
27W SuperCharge Wireless
Faster Wireless Than Most Wired
Huawei’s SuperCharge Wireless protocol operates at up to 27W between the CP61 and compatible Huawei devices — specifically the Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30 RS Porsche Design, P30 Pro, and subsequent Mate and P series flagships that support this charging tier. At 27W, tested charging speeds show 27% charge in 15 minutes and approximately 50% in 30 minutes on the Mate 30 Pro — figures that beat USB Power Delivery at 12W (17% in 15 minutes) and Quick Charge 3.0 accessories by a substantial margin. The CP61 achieves verified 27W delivery at the phone — not 27W input with losses reducing the actual charge rate, but 27W confirmed at the receiver. To reach 27W, the CP61 requires a compatible 40W or higher Huawei SuperCharge wall adapter and a 5A USB-C cable, both included in the box with the charger. With a standard USB-C adapter that cannot supply 10V/4A, the maximum wireless output will be limited to the power available from the adapter. The CP61’s wireless output voltage steps are 5V, 9V, 12V and 18V — it negotiates the highest supported voltage with both the adapter and the receiving device.
Built-In Fan · Night Mode
27W Needs Active Cooling
High-power wireless charging generates significantly more heat than standard 5W or 10W charging, because the efficiency losses at higher power levels produce more waste heat at the coil. At 27W input, the CP61’s internal coil generates enough heat to require active management — without cooling, sustained high-power wireless charging causes thermal throttling, where the charger reduces output power to prevent overheating, and the charging speed that was promised at the outset cannot be maintained. The CP61 addresses this with a built-in centrifugal fan and a C-shape air duct that draws cool air through the fabric surface of the pad, across the coil and out through the base. Huawei’s testing indicates the air duct design improves heat dissipation performance by approximately 30% compared to passive cooling. The fan operates at normal speed during the day. Night mode — which activates automatically when the pad detects low ambient light — switches the fan to reduced-noise operation, making the CP61 quiet enough for bedside use without the fan becoming audible in a quiet room.
Qi Universal · TÜV Certified
Works with Samsung, iPhone and All Qi Devices
The CP61 is fully Qi certified, which means it is compatible with every Qi-enabled device regardless of manufacturer — Samsung Galaxy at up to 10W, iPhone at up to 7.5W (iPhone 8 and later), AirPods and Galaxy Buds at 5W, and any other Qi-enabled accessory or device. The 27W maximum is only available to Huawei devices running the SuperCharge Wireless protocol; all other devices charge at their native Qi maximum. Foreign object detection monitors the charging surface during operation and stops charging automatically if it detects a metal foreign object — coins, keys, bank cards with magnetic strips — that should not be on the pad. This prevents the coil from energising metal objects that could become hot or damage the pad or device. The TÜV certification covers the safety engineering of the charger against over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit conditions. The compact ø90mm footprint — 9cm diameter — is practical for desk and bedside use without occupying significant surface area.
Right choice if you…
✔ Own a Huawei Mate 30 Pro, Mate 40, P30 Pro, P40 Pro or later flagship and want 27W wireless charging
✔ Want a single wireless charger for a mixed device household — Huawei, Samsung, iPhone all charge from one pad
✔ Use the charger in a bedroom and want low-noise night mode operation
✔ Want active cooling — fan sustains 27W without thermal throttling
✔ Want TÜV and Qi safety certification — not a generic third-party pad
Consider something else if…
✖ You want MagSafe charging for iPhone 12 and later — the CP61 is Qi only, not MagSafe; use Apple’s MagSafe charger for 15W iPhone wireless charging
✖ You want completely silent operation at all times — the fan is audible at full speed, though night mode reduces this significantly
✖ You need a stand/upright charger for desk use — the CP61 is a flat pad only

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the CP61 charge my Samsung Galaxy or iPhone at 27W?
No. 27W is exclusive to Huawei devices supporting SuperCharge Wireless — Mate 30 Pro, Mate 40, P30 Pro, P40 Pro and later compatible Huawei flagships. Samsung Galaxy charges at up to 10W on the CP61. iPhone charges at up to 7.5W (iPhone 8 and later). All Qi devices charge at their native Qi maximum — the CP61 negotiates the correct power level automatically.
Do I need a specific adapter to get 27W?
Yes. To achieve 27W wireless output, the CP61 requires a Huawei 40W SuperCharge adapter (or 5V-10V at 4A) and a 5A USB-C cable — both are included in the box. With a standard 5W USB adapter, the CP61 will only output up to 5W wirelessly. The charger negotiates the available power from the adapter and delivers the highest possible wireless output within that limit.
Is the fan loud?
At full speed during 27W charging the fan is audible — it is a small centrifugal fan spinning actively. Night mode automatically reduces fan speed and noise when ambient light is low, making it suitable for bedroom use. At 5W or 10W Qi charging, the power levels are low enough that the fan speed is reduced and less noticeable.
Can I charge through a phone case?
Yes, for standard plastic and TPU cases up to approximately 5mm thick. Metal cases or cases with metal plates block wireless charging entirely. Very thick cases may reduce charging efficiency or prevent connection at lower power levels. Huawei’s own cases are designed to be wireless charging compatible.
What does foreign object detection do?
If the CP61 detects a metal object on the pad — a coin, key, or card with a magnetic strip — it stops charging and issues a warning rather than energising the object. Metal objects placed on an active wireless charging coil can become warm and potentially damage the charger or the object. Foreign object detection prevents this and is a safety feature required for Qi certification.
