The Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones (QC20) for Apple iOS devices put Bose’s active noise cancelling into a light in-ear design, and they remain a favourite for flights, commutes and open-plan offices. A small control module powers the noise cancelling for up to 16 hours per charge, Aware mode lets you hear your surroundings at the touch of a button, and StayHear+ tips keep them comfortable and secure for hours. This is a discontinued model, available while stock lasts — brand new, supplied in bulk packaging.

Microphones inside and outside each earbud measure incoming noise and the electronics cancel it, which works best on the steady low-frequency rumble of engines, trains and air conditioning. The result is that you can listen at a lower volume and arrive less tired. Over-ear headphones do this too, but the QC20 fit in a jacket pocket and do not crush hair or get hot on long journeys.

Hear the world when you need to
One press of the Aware mode button lowers the noise cancelling and lets outside sound in, so you can catch a boarding announcement, order a coffee or talk to a colleague without pulling the earbuds out. Press again and full noise cancelling returns. It is a small feature that makes the QC20 practical to wear all day rather than only in transit.

StayHear+ tips, 16-hour battery
Bose StayHear+ tips rest gently in the outer ear instead of pushing deep into the canal, and the soft wing keeps them in place, so they stay comfortable for a long-haul flight. The rechargeable battery in the slim control module lasts up to 16 hours and recharges in about 2 hours over USB. If it runs flat, audio keeps playing without noise cancelling.
