The Lexar Professional GOLD 256GB microSDXC UHS-II card reads at up to 280MB/s and writes at up to 180MB/s, with a V60 rating for sustained high-bitrate 4K video. It is built for UHS-II action cameras, drones and handheld devices that can use the extra speed — and still works in any standard microSD slot.
- ✓ UHS-II bus: up to 280MB/s read and 180MB/s write in UHS-II devices and readers
- ✓ V60 Video Speed Class — guaranteed 60MB/s minimum sustained write for high-bitrate 4K
- ✓ A1 app performance and U3 / Class 10 rating, temperature-proof from -25°C to 85°C
- ✓ Backward compatible with UHS-I slots in phones, consoles and cameras (at UHS-I speeds)
The Lexar Professional GOLD 256GB micro SD card is a UHS-II card — it has a second row of contacts that lets compatible devices move data far faster than an ordinary UHS-I card. In a UHS-II camera or reader it reads at up to 280MB/s and writes at up to 180MB/s, which means faster burst-shooting buffers, high-bitrate 4K video without dropped frames and much shorter offload times at the end of a shoot.
The V60 rating guarantees a minimum sustained write of 60MB/s, double what V30 cards promise, so it handles the higher bitrates used by modern action cameras, mirrorless bodies with microSD slots and drones. It is A1 and U3 rated, temperature-proof from -25°C to 85°C, and fully backward compatible: in a regular UHS-I slot it simply runs at that slot’s maximum speed. Lexar backs the GOLD series with a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty.
UHS-II Speed
Up to 280MB/s Read, 180MB/s Write
A standard UHS-I microSD card tops out at around 100MB/s because it uses a single row of contacts. The GOLD card adds the UHS-II second row, roughly 75% faster than standard UHS-I cards in Lexar’s testing. To get the full 280MB/s you need a UHS-II device or a UHS-II reader, such as the Lexar Professional dual-slot reader. With up to 180MB/s write speed, the card clears a camera’s buffer quickly after a burst of RAW photos and keeps up with demanding video modes. In a UHS-I phone, console or camera it still works perfectly — it just runs at UHS-I speeds.
Video
V60 for High-Bitrate 4K
Video Speed Class ratings tell you the minimum sustained write a card will hold for the length of a recording, which is what really matters for video. V30 guarantees 30MB/s; the GOLD card is rated V60, guaranteeing 60MB/s. That headroom covers the high-bitrate 4K and slow-motion modes on current action cameras and drones, where a V30 card can trigger “card too slow” warnings or stop recording. Combined with U3 and Class 10 ratings, it is a safe choice for long continuous takes where dropped frames are not acceptable.
Reliability
Built for Demanding Shoots
The GOLD series is part of Lexar’s Professional line, tested to keep working from -25°C to 85°C, so it suits cold-weather filming and hot dashboards alike. The A1 app performance rating means it can also run apps from the card on Android devices. Lexar supports the GOLD series with a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty, a strong signal of the confidence placed in the flash memory and controller inside. It comes as the bare microSDXC card in retail packaging; an SD adapter is not included.
Right choice if you…
✔ Shoot high-bitrate 4K on a UHS-II action camera or drone
✔ Use a camera with a UHS-II microSD slot and want faster bursts
✔ Offload large files often and own (or will buy) a UHS-II reader
✔ Need V60 sustained write rather than V30
✔ Want a 10-year manufacturer warranty
Consider something else if…
✖ Your device only has a UHS-I slot (most phones, Steam Deck, Switch) — Lexar SILVER PLUS 256GB gives better value
✖ You own a Nintendo Switch 2 — it needs a microSD Express card
✖ Your camera takes full-size SD cards — see Lexar 1800x GOLD 256GB SDXC
✖ You need an SD adapter in the box — this card ships without one

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get 280MB/s in my phone or Steam Deck?
No. Most phones, the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch have UHS-I slots, which limit any card to around 100MB/s. The GOLD card works normally in those slots, but its 280MB/s read speed is only reached in UHS-II devices and UHS-II card readers.
Does the Lexar GOLD microSD work in a Nintendo Switch 2?
No. The Nintendo Switch 2 only accepts microSD Express cards. The GOLD card is UHS-II, which works in the original Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED at UHS-I speed, but not in Switch 2.
What is the difference between V30 and V60?
Video Speed Class sets a guaranteed minimum sustained write speed: V30 is 30MB/s and V60 is 60MB/s. V60 gives the headroom needed for high-bitrate 4K, slow-motion and RAW-heavy shooting where a V30 card may stop recording.
Is an SD adapter included?
No. The Lexar Professional GOLD microSDXC card ships as the card only in retail packaging. To use it in a full-size SD slot you need a separate microSD to SD adapter, ideally a UHS-II one to keep the extra speed.
Which card reader do I need for full speed?
Use a UHS-II microSD reader, for example the Lexar Professional USB-C dual-slot reader. A UHS-I reader or a laptop’s built-in slot will usually cap the card at around 100MB/s.
