The G502 has always been the mouse for players who want more than two side buttons. The G502 X LIGHTSPEED has 13 programmable controls: the main clicks, a scroll wheel that clicks and tilts left and right, forward and back buttons, a DPI-shift “sniper” button, DPI up and down, and more, all assignable to keys, macros and game-specific profiles in Logitech G HUB. The scroll wheel switches between precise ratcheted steps and a hyper-fast free spin for long pages or weapon wheels. The DPI-shift button — which drops sensitivity while held for precise aiming — has been redesigned: it can be removed and reversed to sit closer to your thumb, or replaced with the included blank cover if you never use it and want to avoid accidental presses. Profiles are stored on the mouse, so your setup works on any PC without installing software.

What Is Inside — and the 2026 Firmware Update

LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches register clicks optically, which is faster and immune to the double-clicking that wears out traditional microswitches, while a mechanical element keeps the crisp, tactile click. The HERO sensor tracks with zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration. It ships with a maximum of 25,600 DPI; in September 2026 Logitech announced a firmware update for the G502 X family, delivered through G HUB, that raises the ceiling to 44,000 DPI and adds separate X and Y sensitivity control. Install G HUB and check for updates to get it — the rollout is under way. LIGHTSPEED wireless is Logitech’s tournament-grade 2.4 GHz connection; Logitech rates the updated protocol as responding 68% faster than the previous generation, with no practical difference from a cable. Note that there is no Bluetooth: the mouse connects through the included USB receiver or by cable.

Weight, Battery and How It Differs from the Old G502

At 102g the G502 X LIGHTSPEED is noticeably lighter than the original G502 LIGHTSPEED, and unlike the older model it does not use removable weights — the weight system was dropped in favour of a lighter, fixed build. If you liked tuning the weight, that is the main thing you give up. The battery is rated at up to 140 hours, and without RGB lighting it lasts longer than the G502 X PLUS. It charges over USB-C, and you can keep playing wired while it charges. With a Logitech POWERPLAY mat (sold separately) it charges wirelessly while you play and never needs plugging in. The shape is sculpted for the right hand, with a thumb rest on the left side; it is not suitable for left-handed use. It suits palm and claw grips and medium to large hands best.
