Does it work on the cover screen too?

No — the Fold Edition writes on the inner (main) foldable display only. The cover screen does not have a digitiser layer.

Can I use a normal S Pen or S23 Ultra pen on a Fold instead?

No — standard hard-tip S Pens are not safe for the flexible inner panel and Samsung blocks them. Only the Fold Edition’s cushioned retractable tip is approved.

Where do I keep it? The Fold has no pen slot.

Correct — the Fold 5 has no internal silo. Samsung’s S Pen-compatible Fold 5 cases carry the pen on the phone; otherwise it travels in a pocket or bag like any pen.

Does it need charging or pairing?
