In Samsung Notes, Memo and compatible drawing apps, this translates to expressive handwriting, fine-detail illustration and annotation that closely mirrors the feel of a physical pen on paper. Tilt detection allows compatible apps to respond to the pen’s angle — holding the pen at a low angle widens the stroke, simulating a calligraphy nib or flat brush. S Pens from other Note models are dimensionally different and are not drop-in replacements with full functionality on the Note 8 — using the correct OEM S Pen ensures the spring-eject mechanism functions as designed and the digitiser responds correctly. The Gold colour variant matches the Maple Gold Galaxy Note 8 — the phone’s Maple Gold body colour is paired with a gold S Pen from the factory. Will this S Pen work with the Galaxy Note 9, Note 10 or Note 20?

No. The EJ-PN950 is designed specifically for the Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950). The Note 9 uses the EJ-PN960 series (which adds Bluetooth), and the Note 10 and Note 20 use different S Pen models entirely with different dimensions. Each Note generation uses a different S Pen — they are not interchangeable for full functionality.

Does the Note 8 S Pen have Bluetooth?

No. The Galaxy Note 8 S Pen is a passive EMR stylus with no Bluetooth and no internal battery. It requires no charging and no pairing — it is always ready to use. Bluetooth Air Actions were introduced with the Note 9 S Pen (EJ-PN960) in 2018 — the Note 8 S Pen predates this feature.
