If the cable on your MDR-Z1R is damaged or lost, or you simply want a spare, this is the genuine part. Unlike generic replacement leads, it is Sony’s own cable, built to match the Z1R’s connectors. The player end is a gold-plated 3.5mm stereo mini plug, so it connects directly to portable players, laptops, audio interfaces and headphone amplifiers.
At the headphone end, two 3.5mm connectors plug into the left and right earcups and lock in place with Sony’s threaded collars, so the cable cannot be pulled out by accident. Sony uses the same connector design on the MDR-Z7 and MDR-Z7M2. There is no microphone or remote. This unit is brand new and unused, supplied in bulk packaging — the cable only, without the original Sony retail box.
