The Xiaomi Smart Laser Measure (BHR5596GL) — one-tap distance from 5 cm to 40 m at ±3 mm, with Bluetooth floor-plan mapping in the Xiaomi Home app. USB-C, ~3,000 readings per charge. Xiaomi UK price £34.99 — here £24.88, brand new.
- ✓ 40 m range, ±3 mm — one press, instant reading
- ✓ App floor plans, area & volume maths, remote trigger
- ✓ USB-C charging · ~3,000 measurements · 1-button design
A tape measure needs two hands, a helper and a clear run to the wall. The Xiaomi Smart Laser Measure (BHR5596GL) needs one press: point, click, and the distance — from 5 cm to 40 metres — reads out to ±3 mm on its LCD. Pair it with the Xiaomi Home app and it draws your floor plan for you. Xiaomi UK sells it at £34.99; here it is £24.88, brand new.
One-tap ranging
5 cm to 40 m, ±3 mm
A short press fires the Class II laser and the length reads out in real time — a room, a warehouse bay, a window recess. The dual-emission, single-receiver laser head keeps precision within ±3 mm across the full range.
App superpowers
Floor plans draw themselves
Over Bluetooth, the Xiaomi Home app adds ten smart functions: measurements sync automatically, lengths combine into area and volume, and readings drop straight onto a floor plan you sketch in the app. Your phone even works as a remote trigger for awkward fixed-point measurements.
Pocket hardware
One button, USB-C, 3000 readings
Aluminium and engineering plastic in a matte finish, a bright LCD showing current and past readings, and a single button that does everything. The 370 mAh battery takes about 3,000 measurements per USB-C charge — the same cable as your phone.
Right choice if you…
✔ Measure rooms, furniture or DIY jobs single-handed
✔ Want floor plans and area/volume maths done in the app
✔ Are moving home, decorating or fitting wardrobes
✔ Like £24.88 against Xiaomi UK’s £34.99
Consider something else if…
✖ You need site-survey ranges beyond 40 m — that is dedicated surveying kit territory
✖ You want a laser LEVEL for hanging shelves — different tool entirely
✖ You measure outdoors in strong sun on dark surfaces often — all laser measures struggle there

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the app to use it?
No — it works fully standalone: press, read the LCD, done. The Xiaomi Home app (v6.9.200+) is optional and adds the clever parts: synced history, area/volume calculation, floor-plan mapping and remote-trigger measuring.
How accurate is it really?
±3 mm on normal indoor surfaces across the 40 m range. Like every laser measure, glass, mirrors, strong sunlight or very dark surfaces can throw readings — indoors on walls and furniture it is tighter than any tape.
How is it charged?
USB-C — the same cable as your phone. One charge of the 370 mAh battery is rated for about 3,000 measurements, so for occasional DIY it lasts months.
Is it complicated to operate?
One button does everything: long-press two seconds for on/off, short press to measure, double-tap to switch the measuring benchmark between the front and back edge of the device.
Why is it cheaper here than at Xiaomi?
Xiaomi UK’s own store lists it at £34.99. We buy genuine Xiaomi stock in volume through authorised supply and pass the margin on — same sealed box, £24.88, tracked UK delivery.
