The Audio-Technica ATH-M30x is the step up from the ATH-M20x in Audio-Technica’s M-Series — the family behind the studio-favourite ATH-M50x. These closed-back professional monitor headphones are tuned for more detail and strong mid-range definition, which makes voices, guitars and pianos easier to judge when recording, editing or mixing. Unlike the M20x, the M30x folds up for travel and comes with a carry pouch, so it suits field recording, video editing on location and working between home and studio. 40mm drivers, a 3-metre single-side cable with a gold-plated 3.5mm plug, and a screw-on 6.3mm adapter for interfaces and mixers. Black.
40mm Drivers · Mid-Range Detail · 15Hz–22kHz
Tuned to Hear the Detail
Where the ATH-M20x leans towards bass, the M30x is tuned for enhanced detail with excellent mid-range definition — the part of the spectrum where vocals, dialogue, guitars and most instruments live. That makes it a strong choice for anyone editing speech, podcasts or video soundtracks, and for musicians checking a performance, because problems such as harsh sibilance, muddy guitars or a vocal buried in the mix are easier to hear. The 40mm drivers use rare-earth magnets and copper-clad aluminium voice coils and cover 15Hz to 22kHz, with a 1,300mW maximum input. At 47 ohms and 96dB sensitivity they are easy to drive from a laptop, phone adapter, audio interface, mixer or keyboard without a separate headphone amplifier.
Closed-Back · Isolation · Minimal Bleed
Quiet Enough for the Mic
The circumaural earcups contour around your ears to block outside noise and keep the sound inside the headphones. That matters in two ways: you can concentrate in a noisy room or on location, and the click track or backing does not bleed into the microphone while you record a vocal, voiceover or instrument. The professional-grade earpads and padded headband are designed for long sessions, and Audio-Technica uses the same proven M-Series construction across the range. It is equally good as an everyday wired headphone for music, films, gaming with a 3.5mm controller jack or simply listening without disturbing anyone else in the house.
Foldable · Pouch · 3m Cable · 6.3mm Adapter
Built to Travel
The M30x collapses completely, folding in on itself to take up little space in a bag, and Audio-Technica includes a soft carry pouch to protect it. The straight 3-metre cable exits from the left earcup only, so it stays out of the way at a desk or behind an instrument; it ends in a gold-plated 3.5mm plug with strain relief, and a screw-on 6.3mm (1/4″) adapter is included for the larger sockets on audio interfaces, mixers, amplifiers and digital pianos. The cable is fixed rather than detachable. The headphones weigh about 220 grams without the cable — light enough to wear for hours of editing or tracking.
