Why Two Chambers Beat One

In a conventional single-chamber driver, the cone that produces bass also has to reproduce midrange frequencies. At high volumes, bass excursion — the large back-and-forth movement of the cone required for deep low frequencies — physically interferes with the driver’s ability to reproduce clean midrange detail. The HyperX Dual Chamber design divides the driver enclosure into two acoustically separate chambers. The bass driver operates independently from the mid/high driver, so each can be tuned and damped for its specific frequency range. The bass chamber has the volume and damping for clean low-frequency reproduction; the mid/high chamber is tuned for clarity and transient response. At the gaming volumes where footsteps, weapon reloads and environmental cues matter, the Cloud Alpha stays separated and intelligible rather than compressed and muddied.
