The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is Audio-Technica’s best-selling professional headphone and one of the most widely used studio headphones in the world — the pair you will see in home studios, radio booths, DJ setups and on countless YouTube and Twitch desks. Proprietary 45mm large-aperture drivers deliver exceptional clarity across an extended 15Hz–28kHz range with deep, accurate bass. It has every pro feature of the M-Series: three detachable cables in the box, 90° swiveling earcups for one-ear monitoring, a fold-flat collapsible design and a protective carry pouch. Black.
45mm Large-Aperture Drivers · 15Hz–28kHz
The Sound That Made It Famous
The M50x uses larger 45mm drivers than the rest of the M-Series, with rare-earth magnets and copper-clad aluminium voice coils. The result is the sound engineers and reviewers have praised for years: clear, detailed mids and highs, with deep and accurate bass that has weight without swamping the mix. Vocals and instruments are presented in detail, making the M50x equally good for tracking, mixing, DJ monitoring and simply enjoying music, films and games. At 38 ohms with 99dB sensitivity it is easy to drive from an audio interface, mixer, laptop, phone adapter or games controller — because it is powered by the audio jack alone, there is no battery to charge and no Bluetooth latency.
3 Detachable Cables · 6.3mm Adapter
A Cable for Every Setup
Three detachable cables come in the box, each suited to a different way of working: a 1.2–3m coiled cable for the studio desk, drum kit or DJ booth, where it stretches when you move and stays tidy when you do not; a 3m straight cable for working at a distance from your interface or mixer; and a short 1.2m straight cable for use with a phone, laptop or games controller on the go. All three have gold-plated 3.5mm plugs with strain relief and lock into the left earcup, and a screw-on 6.3mm (1/4″) adapter is included for professional headphone sockets. Because the cable detaches, a worn or damaged lead is a simple swap rather than a reason to replace the headphones.
90° Swivel · Fold-Flat · Closed-Back
Studio Comfort, Travel-Ready
The closed-back, circumaural earcups seal around your ears for strong passive isolation — helpful in a noisy room, on a commute and when recording, because little sound leaks out into the microphone. Each earcup swivels 90° for easy one-ear monitoring, the classic way DJs cue the next track. Professional-grade earpads and headband material are built for comfort over long sessions and for durability over years of use, and Audio-Technica sells replacement earpads and headbands. The M50x collapses and folds flat, and a protective carry pouch is included, so it moves easily between home, studio, office and travel. It weighs about 285 grams without the cable.
