Apple USB-C to MagSafe 3 Charging Cable – 2m – Midnight

Power

Up to 140W Fast Charging

Supports the full 140W USB-C Power Delivery 3.1 that the 16" MacBook Pro can accept — with Apple’s 140W adapter it takes the big MacBook Pro from flat to 50% in around half an hour. On the 14" MacBook Pro and MacBook Air it delivers their maximum supported speeds. The USB-C end is standard: it works with Apple’s own adapters and with any quality third-party USB-C PD charger, so the cable stays useful even if you swap power bricks.

Protection

MagSafe 3 Magnetic Release

The MagSafe 3 head guides itself into the charging port magnetically and holds firm while you work — but if the cable is snagged, kicked or tripped over, it releases instantly instead of dragging the laptop with it. This is the single most underrated reason to charge over MagSafe rather than USB-C on a MacBook. A small LED on the connector shows amber while charging and green when the battery is full, so you can check status without opening the lid.

Design

Midnight Woven Finish

Midnight is Apple’s deep blue-black — introduced with the Midnight MacBook Air, darker than Space Grey with a subtle blue cast under light. On a dark desk it disappears the way a white cable never can. The braided jacket resists tangling in a bag and wears far better than smooth rubber cables at the stress points near each connector. At 2 metres it reaches from a floor-level socket to a desk or sofa comfortably, without the strain that shortens a cable’s life.

Right choice if you…

✔ Own a MacBook Pro or Air with a MagSafe 3 port (2021 and later)
✔ Have a Midnight MacBook Air and want the matching cable
✔ Need a second cable for the office, or a longer 2m reach at home
✔ Work around kids, pets or busy desks where cables get snagged

Consider something else if…

✖ You prefer a light finish — see the Silver or Starlight version
✖ Your MacBook predates 2021 — older models charge over USB-C or MagSafe 2, not MagSafe 3
✖ You still need the wall adapter — pair it with the Apple 140W USB-C Power Adapter

Frequently Asked Questions

Which MacBooks does it work with?

Any Mac with a MagSafe 3 port: MacBook Pro 14" and 16" from 2021 onwards, and MacBook Air models from 2022 (M2) onwards. Older MacBooks use USB-C or the incompatible MagSafe 2 connector.

Do I need Apple’s 140W charger to use it?

No — the USB-C end works with any USB-C Power Delivery charger, Apple or third-party. You only need the 140W adapter to reach maximum fast-charge speed on the 16" MacBook Pro; smaller adapters simply charge at their own rate.

Why charge over MagSafe instead of USB-C?

Two reasons: the magnetic breakaway protects your MacBook if the cable is snagged, and it leaves all your USB-C/Thunderbolt ports free for drives, displays and accessories. Only MagSafe supports the full 140W on the 16" MacBook Pro.

What does the LED colour mean?

Amber means the MacBook is charging; green means the battery is full. If the LED does not light, re-seat the connector or check the charger end.

Is Midnight different from Space Black or Space Grey?

Yes — Midnight is a deep blue-black; Space Black is darker still with no blue cast, and Space Grey is noticeably lighter. All three are available at maibo if you are matching a different machine.
