MagSafe 3 Magnetic Release

The MagSafe 3 head guides itself into the charging port magnetically and holds firm while you work — but if the cable is snagged, kicked or tripped over, it releases instantly instead of dragging the laptop with it. This is the single most underrated reason to charge over MagSafe rather than USB-C on a MacBook. A small LED on the connector shows amber while charging and green when the battery is full, so you can check status without opening the lid.

Silver Woven Finish

Silver is Apple’s classic finish — the braided light-tone cable blends with Silver MacBooks and bright desks the way the original MagSafe leads always have. The braided jacket resists tangling in a bag and wears far better than smooth rubber cables at the stress points near each connector. At 2 metres it reaches from a floor-level socket to a desk or sofa comfortably, without the strain that shortens a cable’s life.

Which MacBooks does it work with?

Any Mac with a MagSafe 3 port: MacBook Pro 14" and 16" from 2021 onwards, and MacBook Air models from 2022 (M2) onwards. Older MacBooks use USB-C or the incompatible MagSafe 2 connector.

Do I need Apple’s 140W charger to use it?

No — the USB-C end works with any USB-C Power Delivery charger, Apple or third-party. You only need the 140W adapter to reach maximum fast-charge speed on the 16" MacBook Pro; smaller adapters simply charge at their own rate.

Why charge over MagSafe instead of USB-C?

Two reasons: the magnetic breakaway protects your MacBook if the cable is snagged, and it leaves all your USB-C/Thunderbolt ports free for drives, displays and accessories. Only MagSafe supports the full 140W on the 16" MacBook Pro.

What does the LED colour mean?

Amber means the MacBook is charging; green means the battery is full. If the LED does not light, re-seat the connector or check the charger end.

Is Silver different from Starlight?

Yes — Silver is Apple’s cool, neutral light tone; Starlight is warmer with a subtle golden cast. Starlight, Midnight and Space Black versions are all available at maibo if you are matching a different machine.
