NFC (Near Field Communication) pairing eliminates the Bluetooth settings menu for compatible Android phones. The phone’s NFC chip and the N-mark on the headphones exchange pairing credentials the moment they touch — the connection establishes and audio begins in under a second. This is particularly useful for people who switch between devices regularly, as each new NFC pairing takes a fraction of the time of a manual Bluetooth search. Bluetooth 4.2 provides the underlying connection for audio once paired: a stable, low-power link with sufficient bandwidth for stereo audio at standard quality. The WI-C300 can be manually paired with up to eight devices and switches between them through the controls. Compatible with all Bluetooth audio devices including iPhone, Android, tablet, laptop and PC.

Sony’s WI-series sound tuning emphasises clarity and balance rather than bass-heavy colouration, producing a profile that works well across music genres, podcasts and calls. The 9mm diameter is well-matched to in-ear housing dimensions — large enough for adequate bass output while compact enough for the earpiece size.

Behind-the-Neck Design

The behind-the-neck neckband positions the battery and electronics module at the back of the neck rather than in the earbuds or hanging from the cable. This distributes mass more evenly and removes the tension that cable-dangling designs place on the eartips. The neckband also keeps the earphones accessible when pulled out of the ears — they rest on the shoulders rather than falling loose. Up to 8 hours of battery life is sufficient for a full working day of commuting and use without recharging. Charging uses Micro-USB — the same connector as most Android phones produced before USB-C became standard, making a charger readily available in most households. Voice assistant activation from the in-line control gives hands-free access to Siri and Google Assistant without removing the phone from a pocket.
